1 Million Cups® Naples – August
1 Million Cups® Naples is focusing on health-related startups in August, with a vegan and gluten-free bakery operated by high school students and a bio-imaging and DNA-sequencing center that can detect cancers and memory impairment before symptoms show.
1 Million Cups ® Naples is held from 9-10 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month at the Naples Accelerator, 3510 Kraft Road, Ste. 200, Naples. Startups get six minutes to present their business or service, followed by up to 20 minutes of questions and advice from the audience, which includes the public, as well as SCORE, SBDC, Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce members, entrepreneurs and business professionals. Audience members also can check in and participate through the 1 Million Cups app, which also is available for Android devices here.
The presenters are:
- Nagen Vegan Bakery, which was created to address the lack of vegan options in Collier County. Operated through Collier County Schools’ IncubatorEDU program, its focus is to create healthier, delicious vegan baked goods locally and nationwide through its online store. Its plan is to publicize its mission through festivals and farmers markets and to seek hotels and local businesses to carry its products. It won the gold medal at FGCU Institute for Entrepreneurship’s High School Challenge this year.
- Longevity Bio-Imaging, a Naples-based health center that offers state-of-the-art DNA sequencing, advanced body imaging and expert analysis with machine-learning algorithms that detect cancers and memory-related diseases before symptoms appear. The purpose is to gather, aggregate and distill that information to give you a better image of what your health history and genomic factors say about your long-term wellness. It works with Longevity Performance Center, a gym that can tailor a workout to boost your health based on your health assessment.
Organic coffee will be provided by Grumpy Goat Coffee and the Florida Culinary Accelerator @ Immokalee and paid for by our event sponsor, Cecil’s Copy Express. Nitro cold brew coffee will be provided by Shift Coffee Bar and paid for by Digital Marketing Agency, DMA.
The Kauffman Foundation developed 1MC® in 2012 as a free nationwide program to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs and startups over a cup of coffee. There are now 183 1MCs nationwide, with 12 in Florida.
