6 Questions With Jason Becker, CEO of Golf Life Navigators
Part of our ongoing commitment to our members is finding new and exciting ways to help grow their exposure. This month, our member spotlight is on Golf Life Navigators. Check out the CEO’s answers below to find some inspiration, advice, and ideas you can apply to your own business!
1. What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
Finding a major void in the system for hundreds of thousands of consumers who will make the biggest buying decision of their lives when transitioning to Florida for retirement. To say that we are helping people build their Florida legacies is a very rewarding feeling.
2. What is the biggest challenge you have faced as a business owner?
Anytime you challenge the status quo with an idea or model there will be critics. Within the club industry, there were a number of critics who did not believe we could create a matchmaking program from consumer to the perfect club community. That wasn’t the norm. Learning to brush aside the nay sayers was hard for me in the beginning but I have learned to only surround myself with supporters and positive people.
3. What is the best advice you would give to someone starting out with their company?
Perseverance. It is hard when you are an entrepreneur as you learn what the word anxiety means along with feeling it. The success stories you read about are fantastic and often times enough to get you leaping out of bed in the morning. However, you never read about those who gave up on a great idea that never came to fruition. Those entrepreneurs unfortunately lost their perseverance at an early stage and fell into the abyss.
4. What do you like about having your offices at the Naples Accelerator?
The Energy. When that elevator door opens you feel nothing but “smart” energy on the floor and in the offices. You’re surrounded by technology and successful minds which causes your brain to go bananas with strategic thought and creativity. The energy also produces productivity and the feeling of accomplishment before leaving for the day.
5. What is your favorite hobby or recreational thing to do outside of work?
I would like to say it is golf since I am a PGA Professional but it is actually hiking. I love getting up the Appalachian Mountains for a long weekend and turning off my mind. No calls, emails or things to worry about in the middle of nature which allows me to decompress and regroup before jumping back into the entrepreneurial fox hole.
6. What is your favorite Naples destination?
Olde Florida Golf Club. Working through the industry as an apprentice I made a number of friends along the way while also meeting a few members who years later would become my business partners. It is a special place and when playing the course it reminds me how lucky I am to be living in Naples, Florida. Learn more about Jason and Golf Life Navigators on the member profile page.
